Contributors (under construction)

We want to make sure every voice is heard and all sorts of people are represented on our team here at Gamerisms. Our contributors are largely white, and we’re hoping to remedy this, so people of color are encouraged to apply. Send us a message if you’re interested. :)

rosewater-sailor
A cis woman who was raised more by her PS1 than her parents. :P I’ll play just about anything, but my favorite genres are action/adventure, RPGs, platformers and survival horror (though I’m *very* easily frightened and often have to hand the controller off to someone else, haha). I’m quick to jump on representations of mental illness and abuse in video games, as someone who is affected by both of these things.

venatus
A pre hormone trans girl with a passion for gaming and an aspiring computer scientist. I love playing games to interact with the characters and experience the story so I tend toward the RPG genre but any game were story is a strong point will get my attention. I’m also an experienced DM and a table top gamer with more source books then systems I’ve played.

cooltraineradam
Adam is a 24 year old from Newfoundland, Canada. Gaming since the age of three, he’s been doing it for over 20 years now, and has always considered games as a form of art. Enjoying games from all genres and consoles spanning the years, he’s able to talk about almost any subject there is on the matter of games.

thetaylordetroye
Taylor is a 18 year old bisexual cismale who’s been gaming since about age 10. He first started on the N64, but has now moved on to play mostly MMOs, FPSs, and RPGs. His Xbox Live tag is Fleetshot (not that he plays it much anymore) and he’s on World of Warcraft (send him an ask on his personal Tumblr if you want to know which servers he plays on). He spent four years in City At Peace which helped him learn a lot about the -isms, and he loves smashing the shit out of -isms in games.

whathunter
Hunter is 19 and studying illustration and animation. He is a male-leaning androgyne with social anxiety and a complicated sexuality. He’s into adventure games and anything even remotely gay. He likes to talk because he thinks way too much. Things guaranteed to push his rage-buttons include ableism, cissexism, and heterosexism. He also reads homoerotic subtext into everything just because.

edplaywright23
Ed is an 18 year old bisexual cismale whose loved gaming since the first time he played spyro the Dragon over a cousin’s house. They’ve become a passion ever since. He’s only recently been enlightened the concepts of -isms but is eager to learn so that he can help do his part to make the world a better place. His main focus on this blog is looking at the artistic value of games, and looking at the messages developers and writers and the many other game artists want to get across in their game. Games are an art of experience, so I’m always interested in what kind of experience a game provides for me.

Amy-jean is a twentysomething cisgendered lady. She grew up on a tiny island in Nova Scotia, Canada, and now lives in Montreal with her boyfriend and her kitten. She has been gaming since she could sit up and hold a controller, and loves Nintendo the best. Having worked at both a Gamestop and a tabletop gaming store, she has seen and experienced some pretty questionable treatment of women who are gamers (and hopes to change that). She also lives with various mental illnesses, and talks about that in relation to games, too.

iamabutchsolo
Aria is a theatre student in Philadelphia who someday plans to create and produce plays that inspire social change. She specializes in RPGs, Adventure, and RTS games, with some first-person-shooter skills on the side. Her favorite games include Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2, and most of the Metroid series, and her least favorite games include anything with zombies and anything with misogyny, racism, and oppression of all forms.

queeroctopus
Queeroctopus, aka Cydne, is a genderqueer gamer from the UK. Zir favorite games are the GTA series, and the Fallout series, plus old classics like Legend of Zelda. Zir PSN name is fanglefish, and ze is often online playing Tekken 6.

GK
GK is a nineteen year old feminist, who spends a disproportionate amount of time on tumblr and gaming. Her favourite game is the original Rayman and she owns an Xbox 360, a Wii and a DS. The lack of any good, well developed character that is not a white, able bodied male really grinds her gears.

silvershrike

Margaret is a twenty six year old, cis-gendered, pansexual feminist from Chicago.  If you ask her what her favorite games are she’ll probably laugh awkwardly and change the subject (although the Zelda series is pretty far up there).  She loves survival horror, action/adventure, platformers, RPGs, FPSs, MMOs, puzzle, tabletop games plus a whole lot more she’s probably forgetting.  She’s also an art historian, so she’ll talk about anything having to do with art in video games or art as video games.  Seriously, she loves art history.  If you want to chat about art outside of video games feel free to contact her on her personal page.
